A Lifetime of Fishing

I grew up in Ohio fishing farm ponds for bass and bluegill and could never get enough of it. My first interest in walleye fishing was sparked in high school when I went on a Canadian fishing trip.  After that, regular trips to Lake Erie finalized the addiction.  I moved to Kansas in 1987 courtesy of the US Army, Fort Riley.  After the Army I obtained a bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Kansas State University.  I now work full-time as a wildlife biologist.  

I learned that fishing for walleye in Kansas wasn't anything like fishing for walleye in Canada or Lake Erie.  I lived in Kansas for 23 years and during that time I fished reservoirs in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Montana, Arkansas, and New Mexico.   

Along with recreational fishing and being a fishing guide, I have also fished walleye tournaments for 24 years.  In 2001, my partner and I won the Kansas Walleye Association's Points Championship. In 2006, I began fishing as a pro on the In-Fisherman's Professional Walleye Trail (PWT).  After 3 years on the PWT I realized my time and resources were stretched to the limit so I have reigned things in and I now fish closer to home; fishing local and regional tournaments when time allows.  

In 2010, I moved to Nebraska and now call Lake McConaughy home.  My knowledge of Lake Mac may not be as vast as some other guides, but my experience fishing Great Plains Reservoirs is extensive.  Fishing on the pro-circuit taught me a lot and it was a great experience. I have learned new techniques and new ways to think about catching fish; my goal is to pass some of that knowledge on to you.
